Bomacaine™
AVAILABLE ONLY UNDER VETERINARY AUTHORISATION
Lignocaine is a member of the amide group of localanaesthetics. After hydrolysis the alkaloidal base penetrates the lipid barrier of the nerve cell membrane, permeability of the membrane is lost and impulse transmission ceases. Lignocaine spreads through the tissues more efficiently than procaine toproduce a larger area of desensitisation.
For epidural nerve block and infiltration localanaesthesia.
