Dexamethasone sodium phosphate 5mg/mL in a clear, colourless, aqueous solution for injection. Available in 50mL vials.
Indication:
Treatment of orthopaedic conditions, dermatoses, and allergies in horses and cattle and for the therapeutic induction of calving in cattle. To treat shock in dairy cattle.
Dosage:
By the i/m or i/v route.
ANTI-INFLAMMATORY ACTION (CATTLE and HORSES): 2–4mL/450kg b.w. as a single dose. May be repeated in 3–5 days, if response is satisfactory.
SHOCK (DAIRY CATTLE): 4–11mg/kg slow i/v injection.
THERAPEUTIC INDUCTION OF CALVING (COWS): 4–5mL i/m. Usually as a follow-up or second shot after a long-acting corticosteroid suspension such as Dexavet AP.
Withholding Times:
MILK: 2 Milkings. MEAT: Cattle 1 day. Horses 63 days.
